Empowerment of the Girl Child

RGC is confident of its contribution towards empowerment of the girl child. Culturally, in Zimbabwe and in most African countries, girls are considered inferior to boys and are not given equal opportunities to progress in life. Through the girls training centre RGC has given hope to many girls who had “come to the end of their rope” especially after they lost the breadwinners by giving them skills, a source of livelihood which makes them independent and restores their dignity. These girls no longer look at marriage as a way out of their entrapping circumstances. Girls have been empowered to run small scale businesses for income generation, while many have been empowered to work as nursery school teachers, nurse aides, beauty therapist, clothing designers, interior designers, others are working in hotels, restaurants, takeaways, super markets, school kitchens, hospitals and clinics, saloons, beauty parlours, crèche, primary schools, high schools, NGOs and in government.
