Recruitment of New Students

New students are recruited according to intakes. Potential candidates visit the centre unaccompanied or accompanied by their guardians to begin the recruitment process. Recruitment for January intake is conducted in October, for May intake is in March and for August intake is in June. A total of 120 young women are recruited per year. The application process is that the girls and all the young mothers come to our centre to apply by first going through a verbal interview followed by filling in of an application form. A formal final interview is conducted to shortlisted candidates. The final selection is done after home visits have been conducted.

Rafiki advertise recruitment through fellow students and especially its former students who help identify needy and suitable girls in their communities to participate in our programmes. Some NGOs, companies, children’s homes, churches also do refer potential candidates.

  • Eligibility for Training: Those who qualify for the program are girls and single mothers aged 17 -25 years old. If one has a child or children, they must be at least 2-4 years old. The school does not have a facility to take care of babies while the mother is in training so each mother should make her own arrangements for someone to look after the child while she attends the training.
